The most important thing about Omega

Founded in 1848 as Louis Brandt, Omega is one of the best-known and most respected luxury watch brands of our time. The first watch developed with the name Omega was a pocket watch in 1894, where the term referred to the movement. The name Omega is based on the last letter in the Greek alphabet and refers to "perfection", an allusion to Omega's exceptionally high quality. Today's main recognition feature at Omega is probably space travel with the Moonwatch, the first watch on the moon. But other models such as the Seamaster, Constellation or De Ville are also indispensable today.

Omega models at a glance

Seamaster

A very special model for Omega: To celebrate the company's 100th anniversary, Omega presents the Seamaster 1948. As the name suggests, it was built for the sea, as can be seen from the high water resistance of the individual models. In 1957, the first Seamaster 300 came onto the market with a water resistance of over 20 bar. The Seamaster, which made its first appearance in "Golden Eye" in 1995, is particularly popular among James Bond fans. The popular Aqua Terra model, the slightly more elegant version, came onto the market in 2002 and is still one of the most popular Omega models on the market today.

Speedmaster

It is probably Omega's most iconic model: the Speedmaster. Not only from motorsport history, as the name suggests, but also from space travel, where everything had its origins. 1969: The first man on the moon and the first watch on the moon. That's right, the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch was your first watch on the moon. However, it was developed in 1957 and is still being built today and is even supported by NASA. However, it was originally built for motorsports with a chronograph and a tachymeter to read the speed, as you can tell from the name. It was also partly used here, but the most historical part still looks back on space travel. Today the Speedmaster is probably Omega's best-known model with numerous collaborations and model variants and is always a popular watch.

Movements from Omega

Caliber 1155

The Omega Caliber 1155 is based on the ETA 7750 and is an automatic chronograph caliber with a date display, small seconds at 9 o'clock and is the predecessor of the caliber 1164. The 1155 comes with a 42-hour power reserve and 28,800 vibrations. ETA's basic movement could also be found in watches from Breitling and Sinn.

Caliber 8800

In 2018, the 8800 automatic caliber was introduced for the Seamaster 300M models. With a 55-hour power reserve, it ticks at 25,500 vibrations and is even antimagnetic up to 15,000 Gauss, making it the ideal caliber for doctors and scientists. As a complication we find a date display at 6 o'clock and a 3-hand format.

Caliber 8900

The 8900 in-house caliber has been the successor to the 8500 since 2015. With a power reserve of 60 hours, the in-house movement comes with a date complication at 6 o'clock and as a 3 hand. We installed a Co Axial movement, which ticks with 25,200 semi-oscillators.
