Anyone who thinks that Grand Seiko watches have anything to do with the cheaper Seiko models is way off the mark. Even though Grand Seiko was originally created as Seiko's luxury line, today Grand Seiko presents itself as an independent company with its own corporate philosophy. But even back then, the two models from the Japanese watch manufacturer had nothing in common with each other, except perhaps the name “Seiko”. While Seiko focused on mass production, Grand Seiko specialized in small quantities of the highest possible quality. Already with the first models from 1960 onwards, the other major luxury watch players were made to sweat due to their innovative technologies and extremely high workmanship. To this day, especially among connoisseurs, a Grand Seiko is an absolute statement and an expression of real know-how in the luxury watch world.
