About Tudor

The little Rolex? You could definitely call Tudor that, because Hans Wilsdorf (founder of Rolex) wanted to create an affordable alternative to Rolex with Tudor. However, inexpensive does not mean poor quality: For example, the Rolex Oyster case and the Rolex rotor were originally installed in the Tudor Prince. Tudor has existed since 1926 and, alongside Rolex, is the only watch company under the name of the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation and is therefore still a figurehead for quality and a very good price-performance ratio. Models like the Black Bay, Submariner, Pelagos and more have long been legendary in the watch world.

The Black Bay

She has been Tudor's flagship since 2012. Partly traded on the list and very difficult to get: The Tudor Black Bay diving watch. If you look at the Black Bay models in detail, you will come across many number combinations in the name: 54, 58 or 68 each stand for the homage model from the 1900s and differ not only in the colors but also in the size. But Tudor also has other model variations such as the GMT, ONE or Chrono in its Black Bay series. Since the first Black Bay, Tudor has been using the so-called “Snowflake hands”, a homage to the Tudor Oyster Prince. This refers to the hour hand and, in some models, also the second hand, which looks like a snowflake with its angular block. Also typical for the Black Bay series: a water resistance of at least 200 meters and a rotating bezel, which makes it perfect for divers.

Caliber MT5612

We find the caliber MT5612 in the Pelagos and Black Bay models, among others. It comes with a power reserve of 70 hours and ticks at 28,800 vibrations. Introduced in 2015, it comes as a 3-hand watch with a date complication.
