About Union Glashütte

It is the insider tip in the luxury watch world: high quality workmanship at a reasonable price, that is what Union Glashütte stands for. Union has its roots as early as 1874, when founder Johannes Dürrstein founded the company Dürrstein & Comp in Dresden, a watch wholesaler that, among other things, took over the main sales for A Lange and Söhne. In 1893, Dürrstein founded Union Glashütte in collaboration with the watchmaker and teacher Moritz Großmann. The idea: to make watches with a high level of processing depth more accessible to the masses. Only 2 years later, Union celebrated its first premiere: The first Grande Complication from Glashütte - a long time ago. After the Second World War and the division of Germany, the big change came: All watch manufacturers from Glashütte were nationalized and combined into one brand: The GUB, Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe. For the reunification of Germany, the GUB was privatized in 1990 and renamed Glashütte Original. While some trademark rights such as A Lange and Söhne were transferred back to the families, Union Glashütte was re-established in 1996 as a subsidiary of Glashütte Original. Why wasn't it refounded by the descendants? There was no current knowledge available. In 1997, Union introduced its first new models. To this day, models such as the Belisar, Noramis and 1893 are among the most successful from Union Glashütte.

The Viro

The Viro collection has been available at Union since 2008. It is a hybrid version of sportiness and elegance and was built for everyday use. Union offers its Viro models on stainless steel straps as well as with a large selection of leather straps.

Caliber U 2892A2

The U 2892A2 is an ETA movement with decorations from Union Glashütte. It comes with a power reserve of 42 hours and ticks at 28,800 vibrations. It is one of ETA's best automatic movements and was built from 2000 - 2016. The basic caliber was also used in Omega, IWC, TAG Heuer and several more.
